ASK A TUTOR

FREE SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS DURING COVID-19 DISRUPTIONS

Confused about a topic that you're learning at home? Ask one of our tutors for a full explanation in a free, 20-minute tuition session.

This service covers Mathematics, English and Science from Primary to A-Level.

As many of you know, we are not just a tuition provider but a social enterprise. Normally, we give back to our community by running workshops and programmes in local schools and youth organisations so that children can get extra educational support for free. While schools are closed and students are learning at home, we will continue to provide free support to those who need it the most. We are most grateful to Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland for supporting this programme.

Ask a Tutor is a single 20-minute tuition session to answer a question or address a single topic area and is not a recurring weekly time slot. We are working hard to secure further funding to be able to provide continued support to students who apply for this service.

We would appreciate it if you could be as specific as possible in the question area below so that we can prepare relevant materials in advance of the session. Thank you!

FAQs

  • Who is it for?

This service is for children of frontline workers, children with special educational needs and children from socially disadvantaged families.

  • How does it work?

Each week, our tutors will provide a number of 20-minute individual sessions for students who have a question about something they are learning or who have a topic that they need explained to them.

We will provide these sessions to students who have been referred to us by their schools and we will allocate any remaining sessions to students who have applied using the form below. This will be treated on a first-come-first-serve basis, with priority given to new students who have not used the service before.

  • How do I know if I have received a tuition slot?

We will email you using the address that you have provided in order to provide a time and day for your Ask a Tutor session. Once confirmed, we will let you know what tutor we have assigned to answer your question and to provide you with a Meeting ID and Password to connect into your session using Zoom.

  • How often can I use this service?

We expect that demand for this service will be high and so we cannot guarantee that everyone who applies will receive a slot. You are welcome to apply as often as you like but priority will be given each week to new students so that we can try to support as many families as possible at this time.

  • Will there be more support available in the future?

We will have a feedback form for students to complete after their session where they can indicate if they would benefit from further support from us. We will take this feedback into consideration for any upcoming support programmes and may contact students to offer further support if we are able to.
